Treatment of Metastatic and Recurrent Pancreatic Cancer

When the cancer has metastasised, surgery is not a viable option as the cancer has spread to distant organs through the blood and lymph. Surgical removal of the tumor thus does not serve the purpose as the cancer cells are dispersed through out the body. The morbidity and mortality is high during and after surgery in patients with metastatic and recurrent cancer.
