Adjuvant Therapy

The prognosis of pancreatic cancer is very poor with the 5-year survival as poor as 15% to 20% for resectable tumors that further falls to overall 3% for all stages combined. There are high chances of metastasis even after R0 resection and most patients develop metastasis or recurrent cancer after surgery. Therefore the role of postoperative adjuvant therapy is important to delay onset of recurrent cancer and to prevent distant metastasis.
